Newest Obsession

If you are familiar with my blog, you will know that I’m a huge Benefit cosmetics fan.  I love everything from their packaging to the names of their products to the actual product itself.  My newest obsession from them is their They’re Real! Mascara.  I’ve always been a big fan of Bad Gal lash but when this came out, I was lucky enough to try out a sample and I fell in love!

8798546165790This bad boy lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates.   The brush offers staggered bristles to grab closest to the root for volume and lets you curl even the tiniest of lashes.  The one downsize is that it can get a bit clumpy so a little goes a long way.

Benefits Research Results:
-94% saw dramatic length and volume
-90% saw base-to-tip curl
-94% saw visible lift
-100% saw long-wearing results

I know several friends have used this and swear by it.  If you haven’t already….TRY IT OUT!   You will be glad you did!

Hello Friday

Crazy crazy day hence the lack of posting! But I hope everyone has a splendid weekend and hope to see everyone back here on Monday with a big Patriots WIN!!!!

To Look or Not To Look

One of my besties…Molly…is an amazing photographer – check her out here.  See for yourself just how amazing and talented she is!!!!  And if you like her photos, you should definitely follow and like her on Facebook.  Molly started a few years back and is absolutely fabulous. You can see her passion for photography in every picture she takes.

Now me and Molly have had several debates on “first looks”….or the Big Reveal, First Sight. This is when the couple sees each other before the ceremony for a little one on one time and some great picture taking. This is a great way to capture amazing images without sacrificing time with your guests.

I personally don’t know if I would do this…I think I would want to see Justin’s face and reaction when I walk down the aisle….the BIG MOMENT….a bit more traditional if you will. But there are definitely some benefits to doing a first look….

*That first moment when you see each other can be a very intimate moment. You are able to really take a minute, just the bride and groom, and have some quality “alone time” (and the photographer can capture some pretty amazing pictures – and the pictures you are most likely to have on your walls years down the road)
*By doing these pictures before hand, you save a lot of time after the ceremony and before the reception. The couple as well as the wedding party can actually enjoy the cocktail hour and not be running around taking pictures…and speaking from personal experience of being in my fair share of weddings, that is something your wedding party will thank you for….you can eat, drink, socialize and enjoy the wedding beginning to end!
*Usually the lighting before your ceremony is the best. Plus let’s not forget that your makeup and hair is fresh and perfect. There is a good chance you will cry during the wedding and might mess up that beautiful face.
*Once you see your bride/groom, it takes a lot of the nerves away.  Plus, the groom sometimes tend to hold it together during the ceremony so that they won’t be embarrassed if they cry. During a first look they feel much more at ease to be emotional.  And then you can truly enjoy the ceremony and what the wedding is all about!!!

Here are some of Molly’s couples who opted for the “first look”…..

So the question remains…To Look or Not To Look. Regardless of which you decided, the first time you see each other on your wedding day will be super special!

DIY Curtains

I guess I can’t complain…I had a nice long 3 day weekend but still…it was rough getting back into the swing of things today.  I could NOT get out of bed.  What a great weekend though….spend time with my girl Molly and saw her wedding band which rocked, saw Lion King 3D (I highly recommend it….so worth it in 3D), enjoyed the last few glimpses of summer downtown, hit up Sephora for some foundation samples (SCORE), watched the Pats beat the Jets and best part of all, spend the day babysitting my awesome nephew Ryan!

Now back to reality but only a 4 day work week, so I guess thats good.  Plus I am finally getting that facial tonight that I have been wanting needing for the longest time!

On to today’s post….DIY Curtains.  I am not someone who is good with picking out curtains…that’s what I have my mom for.   She always knows what would look good and where to find them at a good price.  Its absolutely absurd how expensive curtains can be!  Enter DIY Curtains.  This is a cute idea I found on welcometoheardmont blog.  All you need is flat sheet and some ribbon.  It’s a great way to add some color and design into a room without a big chunk of $$$.   Check out the DIY instructions here

Welcome to Mascara & Martinis!

Welcome to Mascara & Martinis!

I have finally bit the bullet and decided to start a blog.  I’ve been contemplating for over a year and came to the realization, what am I waiting for….do it already!  I’m a big stalker of blogs as it is, so I figured, why not put together your own thoughts, ideas, obsessions and share with the world!

My goal of this blog is to share my thoughts from new beauty products to new recipes to obsession with TV and everything in between.  Thanks for reading!!!!
